Winning the Lottery

To answer your question- No, I did not win. But This is a post on why I do not want to win the lottery. Are you confused yet?

When I first got married I realized really fast that me and my wife needed money. The first thing my wife said was, "Too bad we can't just win the lottery and have out life set," I couldn't help but agree. I bought some lottery tickets the first week or so after we were marries and watched as maybe some of you do, as my numbers were never picked on the television. I went to church that Sunday and taught my Sunday school class on things you need and things you want. It wasn't long before my kids brought up money, because they knew I was looking for a house. It was at that moment that I realized something.

"Money is something you need, but it is also something you always want," I said, "You have to learn to draw the line somewhere."
My kids were confused of course. They were only ages 5-9 and some of them were not even able to count money yet. But, I understood my own dilemma because of those kids. I don't need to win the lottery, I need the money. I have to work to earn the money I need because if it was all just given to me through dumb luck, what will my identity be for life?
I wouldn't be a man known for having his difficulties and rising through them to accomplish a greater task and earn enough wealth to have a family. I wouldn't be known as the ingenious man that created a sensational website that earned million of dollars like Mark Zuckerburg did with Facebook. No, I would be that lucky prick who hit it big and never had to work for anything. Where is the testamony to God in that? When has God every done something through a person that wouldn't effect another person in the process? Not one time. Every trial that we face as Christians is a blessing because we need trials to show ourselves as Christians.
And because of my trials I will one day be looked at my someone and they will tell their children, "That guy had a hard life trying to get where he is. But he worked hard and believed in God the whole time and now he has the family he has always wanted."
Don't be afraid to work for what you want in life, because that is what God needs you to do. Have a good day everyone.
